Upon splits your vault key between your chosen beneficiaries, so that only a group working together can unlock your vault after you pass away.
We use Shamir's Secret Sharing to ensure that your vault can only be opened when the minimum number of your chosen beneficiaries agree. This means your vault is never dependent on a single person and your release conditions are enforced through cryptography.
Shamir's Secret Sharing is a cryptographic technique that lets a secret – like your vault key – be split into multiple pieces, called "shares." Each beneficiary receives one share. The magic is that only a minimum number of shares (the "threshold") are needed to reconstruct the secret. With fewer than the threshold, nothing can be learned about the vault key.
This works by creating a random mathematical function (a polynomial) where your secret is hidden. Each share is a point on this function. When enough beneficiaries combine their shares, the original secret can be recovered. For example, if you set a threshold of three out of five, any three beneficiaries can unlock the vault, but two or fewer cannot.
For inheritance vaults, this means no single person can access your vault alone, and your vault can still be unlocked even if some shares are lost. Shamir's Secret Sharing provides strong security, privacy, and peace of mind – ensuring your wishes are followed and your information is protected until the right moment.
Ensure that your memories and assets will be passed on to your loved ones. Create your inheritance vault today and rest easy knowing your legacy is secured.
