Setting up your vault

1. Add your documents

Our vaults are end to end encrypted, ensuring your data is only accessible by you until your next of kin have released the vault. Add instructions, documents, device passcodes, account passwords, encryption keys, cryptocurrency details, and more.

2. Choose your beneficiaries

Your beneficiaries will be invited to create a free account and will gain access to your vault after your death. A minimum number of your beneficiaries are required to release and decrypt your vault.

3. Set your release conditions

You have full control over what is required to release your vault to beneficiaries. As everyone's life circumstances and circle of trust is different, we give you full control to balance the amount of trust you give to each beneficiary.

1. Trigger release conditions

Your beneficiaries report your death to Upon, and can upload your death certificate and an extra release key that you have written in your will.

2. Grace period

To protect you from malicious access, you will be notified to all changes in release conditions. When all have been met, an email will be sent to give you a number of days to prevent releasing the vault to beneficiaries.

3. Beneficiaries gain access

Upon gives beneficiaries access to the encrypted vault data, which they can now decrypt using their beneficiary key shares. At no point is Upon able to read the vault contents, even after release of the vault.
